In this class I introduce the basics of music, including:
* Rhythm
* Pitch
* Tempo
* Dynamics
* Note reading
* Understanding how music influences you
I teach this class in 8- 30 to 45 minute sessions. These classes start once a month and are open to kids from approximately age 3 to approximately age 12. Sometimes kids younger than age 3 are able to enjoy the class - if your child is capable of sitting still, paying attention, and following directions for about 30 seconds at a time, they're probably ready.
The classes are divided into at least two age groups - ages 3-6 and ages 6 and up. Depending on the number of kids enrolled I may make a third group, ages 6-8. I try to keep classes to no more than 7 kids at a time.
The length of instruction depends on the kids. If they are enjoying the class, participating well, and having fun, we will have a full 45 minute class. If they are having a tougher time paying attention (this is especially true with younger kids), we will break up the instruction time with free play time and the instruction time will be approximately 30 minutes.
Each session includes 8 classes and a "concert" (the word concert is used very broadly here). It also includes a simple instrument that the child can keep and hopefully continue playing!
Tuition is $40 per session for the first child in the family, $30 per session for the second child in the family, and $20 per session for the third child in the family. Prices are subject to change. Tuition is due one week before the start of class.
